‘The Story of Blue’.
This exhibition will explore the complex history of the colour blue, from its ancient beginnings as a colour with no name,
to its associations with barbarism, right through to its modern-day ubiquity.
From early works of art that pushed their creators into debt, to the distinctive patterns of blue and white porcelain found in most homes today,
this show will celebrate the ways in which blue has been used to evoke a sense of the sky and the sea.
Along the way, it will explore how this colour has been both revered and reviled throughout the centuries, and why it remains Europe's favourite hue today."
